Who we are

Early in 2011, when Atlas Gyms were exclusively outdoor Atlas Bootcamps… it was easy to see the hard work, organization, team effort and “best practices” approach that gave customers an invaluable experience. It was merely Tim Bruffy, his weekly team of fitness coaches, and an “all-in” attitude and vision to build an undying culture of educated and passionate fitness enthusiasts… a culture that values the endless contributions of its team… a culture where knowledge is vast and elite, hospitality is sincere, and relationships are genuine… a culture where our clients feel more like friends and family.

By 2012, Tim quickly brought these practices to a brick-and-mortar location in Washington, DC’s Historic Capitol Hill neighborhood. Atlas Fitness DC is a cutting-edge training facility with the goal to provide personalized training experiences tailored to individual clients. Always looking for new ways to bring best practices and innovative techniques to his clients, Tim came up with the Atlas Mobile Gym concept.

The Atlas Mobile Gym brings equipment only seen in brick-and-mortar locations to your doorstep with capabilities for all your strength training needs. Equipment includes racks, benches, barbells, dumbbells, kettlebells, TRX, bands, sleds, ropes… and much, much more.


Tim Bruffy has more than fifteen years experience in the physical fitness industry and is one of the most sought after trainers in the DC area. Tim earned his degree in Education and Sports Medicine from the University of Virginia where he worked intimately with the school’s strength and conditioning department. Over the years of hard work, Tim has earned opportunities to train with some of the top athletes and coaches in the business. With a network extending into collegiate, Olympic, and professional sports, Tim knows how to motivate athletes and aspiring athletes to peak performance—for sport and for life. Tim is also a NPTI Certified Personal Trainer and Nutritional Consultant and serves as a guest instructor for the Institute (NPTI). In addition, he is certified with National Strength & Conditioning Association (NSCA) and Nike SPARQ (Speed, Power, Agility, Reaction, Quickness) and also holds certifications in Powerlifting, Weightlifting, Kettlebells, and TRX.
